Written by Nicolas Horn and Christian Spiller for Die Zeit:

Germany's “left-back of the heart” – that's where Nagelsmann put him in games against Austria and Turkey last year before swiftly abandoning his experiment. The idea was particularly wild, but says something about a player still looking for his best position. At Arsenal, he has played as a No 9 mainly due to a lack of alternatives – just like in the national team – but has done very, very well in the second half of the season. An incredible player but, at the age of 24, in danger of becoming an eternal talent (despite having scored the winning goal in a Champions League final). Often everywhere, sometimes nowhere; he disappeared during the Champions League exit in Munich, for example. Although clearly the most talented attacker, Kai Havertz is therefore not an undisputed choice to lead the line this summer. Grew up with many animals, his favourite being donkeys. Can do the Buster Keaton stoneface. Rudi Völler once called him “a mix of Michael Ballack and Mesut Özil”. On a good day, that's exactly what he is.
