Chelsea among PL clubs 'worried about transfer instalments' as broadcasting deals in France, Spain and Italy collapse

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are among the Premier League clubs that are worried about receiving instalments of transfer fees they are due European sides, including ones from Real Madrid for Eden Hazard's transfer.

Unlike the broadcasters in the UK, those in France, Spain and Italy have not paid their respective leagues this month which leads to fears that clubs from those countries might not be able to make the payments they are due in June.

As a consequence, the Premier League clubs who have been dealing with them would face their own issues as those instalments have already been included in next season's budgets.

Last summer, Chelsea agreed Eden Hazard's transfer to Real Madrid for £90m which were due to be paid in several instalments. It is the second biggest transfer for which the PL sides are still owed money, after Philippe Coutinho's £142m move from Liverpool to Barcelona in January 2018.

As per the source, Chelsea are also waiting for payments on Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid, Juan Cuadrado from Juventus and Bertrand Traore from Lyon.

In case the West London club do not receive the payments, their expenses will have to be seriously cut down, too.
