On this day 15 years ago, Jose Mourinho proved he was truly a 'Special One' by leading Chelsea to their first Premier League title in 50 years.

The Blues beat Bolton Wanderers at home 2-0 thanks to goals from Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba, making it impossible for Arsenal and Manchester United to catch them in the table.

While younger football fans know the Portuguese manager as a grumpy and divisive figure, Mourinho was universally adored by players and supporters alike during his first spell at Stamford Bridge, leading Chelsea to the title next year as well.

Speaking after the final whistle at Bolton, Frank Lampard said on April 30, 2005: "Jose has worked on spirit. He has worked on the confidence of the lads. He is always positive. He makes every player feel important. A real leader of men."

The Blues finished the season with a record-breaking 95 points, losing just once and setting a record for least conceded goals over the Premier League campaign - 15.

However, the 'third season' curse kicked in two years later and led to Mourinho leaving the club shortly after the start of the 2007/08 campaign.

The Portuguese returned to Chelsea in 2013 and won another Premier League title with the Blues before moving to Man United and now Tottenham.
