Bundesliga takeover at Stamford Bridge: Chelsea potential XI with Havertz and Werner in and how much it'd cost

In recent weeks, Chelsea have been linked with a number of players from Bundesliga (another reason to watch the German league when it resumes), but we'll only speak about two of them, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner. Here's what we know so far.

Timo Werner, 24, RB Leipzig

  • The Germany international has mainly featured as a left-winger this season, but his preferred role is that of a striker.
  • Werner has a £52 million release clause and is ready to move to the Premier League.
  • As per reports, Chelsea have already contacted the player's agent, although a lot will depend on whether Liverpool decide to go for him this summer.

Kai Havertz, 20, Bayer Leverkusen

  • One of the most highly-rated young German players, Havertz is a creative midfielder capable playing in a multitude of positions in the midfield and the final third.
  • Before the coronavirus crisis, he was valued by the Bayer manager at €100 million, but the price is likely to go down.
  • Other elite clubs like Liverpool, Man City, Man United and Bayern Munich have also registered an interest in Havertz, but there've been no reports of a concrete approach yet.

So, the two young Germans would easily mix in with the Chelsea youngsters should the Blues get them both. But how would they line up if they manage to do a double Bundesliga swoop? Here's our prediction:

  • Havertz is most effective when he plays as a No.10 which ideally fits N'Golo Kante but probably put Jorginho's place in the team under threat.
  • Werner can play both on the left and as a No.9, although there would be less competition for the latter slot.
  • Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and others would be desperate to prove they are better than the foreign stars (Hakim Ziyech included).

Do you think Chelsea have a chance to sign both Werner and Havertz? Do you agree with the line-up? Share your thoughts in the comments or on our newly launched blogging platform!
