Chelsea might be left to regret Willian's departure - here are stats to prove it

Whoscored have thrown light on certain statistics which clearly reveal that Willian's departure from Chelsea would, in fact, leave a massive void in the creative department for the Blues.

According to the website, Willian has provided the highest number of key passes (51) by a Chelsea player in the Premier League this season so far, while his tally of 19 key passes in the UEFA Champions League is also the highest among all his teammates.

In fact, Willian's tally of 19 key passes in Europe's elite club competition has only been bettered by Real Madrid's Toni Kroos (22), with Napoli's Jose Callejon and Valencia's Dani Parejo third on the list with 18.

Mason Mount is the only player close to emulating Willian's numbers with a tally of 43 key passes in the Premier League so far while captain Cesar Azpilicueta (31) and Mateo Kovacic (25) are among the other notable contributors in terms of creativity.

Willian's future at Stamford Bridge has been the subject of widespread speculation in the media over the past few months, with the Brazilian's existing deal at Chelsea set to expire at the end of the ongoing campaign.

The 32-year-old's contract stand-off in West London has been well-documented, with Willian holding out for a three-stay deal while the Blues are only prepared to offer him a two-year deal.

That has infuriated certain sections of the Chelsea fanbase, who have accused the Brazilian of holding the club at ransom for his own personal benefit.

Yet, others feel that Willian's departure wouldn't be a massive blow for the club, given that he is nearing the latter stages of his career and isn't prolific enough like other PL wingers like Sadio Mane, Riyad Mahrez, Mo Salah and Leroy Sane.

All in all, Willian's departure might not be all that easy for Chelsea to cope with and it would be a dagger in the hearts of the fans if he produces those numbers for Arsenal or Tottenham next season!
