However, the negotiations over his price tag continue. Chelsea want to lower the fee down to £70m plus add ons, while Bayer still insist on £90m.
The Blues securing their Champions League spot is certainly a huge boost for the transfer.
Thus, unless some something unpredictable happens, it's unlikely that Chelsea will miss out one of the most talented youngsters in Europe.

According to RMC Sport's Mohamed Bouhafsi, quite a reliable French source, Chelsea have started talks with the representatives of Brentford player Said Benrahma.
The Athletic also reported that Chelsea are considering the 24-year-old attacker as a direct replacement for Willian.
This could turn out to be a tricky transfer, as it depends on two things - the price being lowered a bit and the Brazillian's contract negotiations with Chelsea (which have recently received a huge boost).

Another potentially tricky deal, as West Ham are eager to earn some decent buck by offloading their most priced asset.
Chelsea have been trying to lower the reported ridiculous fee of £80 million by offering several players for a swap deal.
Ross Barkley, Michy Batshuayi, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori (on loan) are among the players rumoured to have been offered.
The Hammers, however, are reportedly not willing to sell (or just trying to get the biggest fee possible).
They have the upper hand, as the 21-year-old Englishman has 4 years left on his contract.
Overall, it will come down to Marina Granovskaia's well-proven negotiation skills.

However, according to Football Insider, the Red Devils have already rejected Chelsea's approach and something tells that, with David De Gea recent struggles, United will need their Academy graduate themselves.
Besides, Henderson himself has said on multiple occasions that his dream is to play at Old Trafford.
