Cesar Azpilicueta sets Spain record with goal vs Croatia

Cesar Azpilicueta scored his first goal for Spain ever in the Euro 2020 clash with Croatia.

According to OptaJoe, this means that at the age of 31 years 304 days, the Chelsea captain has become Spain's oldest goalscorer ever in the European Championships.

Given that before the Euros, the right-back had not received a Spain call-up since November 2018, this was undoubtedly a special moment for Dave.

Azpi's header gave his team a 2-1 lead but the game was far from over, with La Furia Roja prevailing 5-3 after the extra time in the end.

In the quarterfinal, Spain will face Switzerland who knocked out N'Golo Kante, Olivier Giroud and the rest of the French team in the penalty shootout after a dramatic 3-3 draw in regular time.
