'Couldn't have happened at a worse time': Fans react to Chilwell's injury news as Chelsea fear ACL damage

As per the reliable Matt Law, Ben Chilwell is out until at least the end of this calendar year as Chelsea fear possible ACL damage to the left-back.

Chilwell had to be subbed off in the game against Juventus . He was playing some excellent football for the Blues this season, having been involved in 5 goals already/

Fans have reacted to the sad news of a possible lengthy absence:

Reddit

just_drew_eat: "FFUCKKKKKK!! If it isn't Chelsea without a bad news in the corner waiting to spoil our joyous ride"

RaduLum: "End of 2021? Could be much worse, I suppose. I feared he might be out for the season. If he’s back before UCL knockouts, I’ll be ecstatic."

ProgsRS: "Enter Marcos Alonso, our other top-scoring left-back prodigy."

admiralawkward: "It absolutely does suck but I think Alonso in the current system whilst being a drop in quality is still a capable replacement. Only a month ago we were churning along and folks were wondering why Chilly wasn't featuring.

"Obviously, that was because Chilwell was returning to form and being reintegrated but I think Alonso can do enough. The real issue is what the solution is behind Alonso. A winger at LWB, Emerson recall, Saul etc."

Elowhyte: "Let's pray that the injury becomes a simple one that will only sideline him for few days or few weeks. We need everyone at this hectic fixtures period."

Miqdad H: "This sucks even more because this could not have happened at a worse time. He was just starting to do so well and enjoy his football :(("

Russel Millis: "Fuck me Chelsea must be one of the unluckiest teams when it comes to injuries……RLC in the European final who at the time was playing great, Lukaku and Werner at the same time now poor old Chilwell whose been immense lately"

ForeverBlue: "I am almost moved to tears with this news. I hope it is not serious as feared . We wish you a speedy recovery Chilly."
