Another chance for youngsters? Select your preferred Chelsea XI vs Chesterfield from 2 options

Chelsea are taking on National League leaders Chesterfield in the FA Cup third round, and it's an optimal opportunity for Thomas Tuchel to rotate the squad ahead of the more difficult games (no disrespect to Chesterfield).

Ben Chilwell and Reece James are ruled out, as well as N'Golo Kante and Thiago Silva. Trevoh Chalobah's status is unclear, but Andreas Christensen has returned to training and could be involved.

Finally, Cesar Azpilicueta and Kai Havertz are fine after injury scares from the Tottenham game.

So, who should Tuchel turn to for the game on Saturday? Here are a couple of options for you to consider.

Option 1: senior squad involved

There's a strong case to be made for most of the first-team players to be rested for the game.

However, not all of them played 90 minutes week in, week out in the last weeks, so some of them could actually benefit from a run-out.

Let's not forget that five subs are available to Tuchel in the FA Cup, so he can make changes during the game more easily.

The only player who's almost certainly guaranteed a start is Marcus Bettinelli. With Edouard Mendy at the AFCON and Kepa to receive plenty of game time in the coming weeks, the third-choice keeper's involvement here is a no-brainer.

Option 2: youngsters given a chance

Some of the young players, like Xavier Simons, Harvey Vale and Jude Soonsup-Bell, have already played for the first team.

Lewis Hall has been included in the matchday squad several times. Xavier Mbuyamba is yet to achieve that after his move from Barcelona, and the game on Saturday could be the ideal opportunity for players like him.
