Chelsea seems to have identified strengthening their forward line as their main priority for the next season.
The Blues are reportedly confident of signing Man City winger Raheem Sterling in the summer.
Chelsea have also been linked to a move for Everton attacker Richarlison as they seem intent on really sparking up their attacking line.
So let’s look at 3 possible ways in which Thomas Tuchel can line up his side for next season if able to secure the signings of the two Premier League stars (the lineups comprises of only current players in the team).
Option 1: In a 3-man formation
If Tuchel decides to stick with the 3-4-1-2 formation next season, he could opt to play both Sterling and Richarlison as his forward options. The duo can play as a front-two for Chelsea, with Mason Mount behind them as a creative forward.
With their pace, ability to get into key goal-scoring spaces and clinical nature in front of the goal, this could really fire up Chelsea’s attacking capability in such a formation.
Option 2: In a more attacking shape
Tuchel is likely to change his formation into a 4-man backline next season after losing both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. He could revert to a 4-3-3 formation and can use both Sterling and Richarlison in that too.
The Brazilian forward can easily play as a no.9 if needed. Sterling is most suited to a left-wing role from where he can cut inside and cause trouble.
With Kai Havertz completing the trio and the duo of Reece James and Ben Chilwell supporting from the wings, this could form a dangerous attacking line for Tuchel’s side.
Option 3: A menacing front-four
Tuchel can also use a 4-2-3-1 formation to put all his prominent attackers into the same team for Chelsea next season if able to rope in the Premier League duo. Sterling can play as a second striker or no.10 role behind Timo Werner, while Richarlison is well suited to a left-wing position as well.
This shape could help Chelsea take the fight to the more defensive sides, break them down easily and score a lot of goals.
