'I can see Real Madrid replace Modric with him': Fan names misused Chelsea player to repeat Salah/De Bruyne fate

Chelsea's attacking struggles under Thomas Tuchel have been criticised often by fans. Strikers such as Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have struggled here while other forwards like Hakim Ziyech, and Christian Pulisic haven't fared well either.

Until and unless Chelsea sign a striker this summer, Kai Havertz is likely going to be the starting No.9 in most games from next season.

The German international has scored only 23 goals in two seasons with Chelsea and has often struggled to lead the attack. Will P, a Chelsea fan, shared his detailed view on Havertz and other forward's struggles under Tuchel's system.

He wrote (via The Athletic): "Tuchel has clearly disenchanted most if not all the attacking players with his laborious system and insistence on playing them out of position.

"To be honest, I couldn’t think of anything worse than playing as an attacker in this Chelsea team. Receive the ball with no time and space due to the monotonous pace the game is generally played at, and are then blamed for all the team’s issues.

"Generally speaking, if 5 or 6 people are unhappy and discontent, all of whom have proven at different stages of their career that they are seriously good players, then who is the issue? These players aren’t stupid and are realising that their careers are stagnating at Chelsea. This is Salah and De Bruyne part two happening again.

"Due to Werner and Lukaku’s departure, it’s now time to blame everything on Kai. It seems as though Chelsea’s fan base always need an outlet to pour into. Kai has been a class above for chelsea in numerous high profile games, showing how special he really is.

"Not only this, but it has been forced upon him that he plays as a striker, despite it being completely obvious that he sees himself as a midfielder. 95% of his Leverkusen career saw him play as a midfielder with the license to get forward, which propelled him into being one of the best young players on the planet.

"I can so easily see a situation next summer when Real Madrid replace Luka Modric with Kai at a knockdown fee, or Bayern replace muller with Kai, and Chelsea fans are squealing in 3 years time when he’s one of the best attacking midfielders in the world, playing in a system that actually allows attack minded players to flourish."

Salah and De Bruyne both did not get enough chances to play at Chelsea and are now arguably the two best players in the league.

You do get the feeling that this season will be make or break for Havertz at Chelsea - reliable reporter Matt Law pointed this out a couple of weeks ago when Werner left.
