Potter keen to reduce squad but Chelsea face struggle to offload high earners (reliability: 5 stars)

Having welcomed Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk to the squad, Graham Potter now wants to reduce his pool of players - but it won't be easy.

According to the Evening Standard's Nizaar Kinsella, Chelsea face a struggle to offload some of their unwanted players in January or in the summer.

Kai Havertz, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic all face uncertain futures. However, it's going to be hard to find new clubs for the highly-paid players.

One player who is likely to leave at the end of the season is Jorginho. His contract expires in the summer, and Napoli and Barcelona are interested in signing him as a free agent.

Right now, Chelsea have a squad of 33 players. They will have no problem registering them all for the Premier League, but some stars will have to be left out of the Champions League squad. In any case, having to manage so many players is unsustainable for Potter.
