Chelsea not interested in Maguire, keen on bringing back academy graduate instead (reliability: 5 stars)

Chelsea are not interested in signing Man United centre-back Harry Maguire even after it emerged that the Blues will be without Wesley Fofana for months, The Guardian reports.

The club is looking at other options, including their former player Marc Guehi.

Chelsea sold their academy graduate Guehi for £18m in 2021. The deal included the opportunity for the Blues to match bids from other clubs, with Arsenal and Tottenham expressing interest earlier.

However, Chelsea are yet to make a serious move for Guehi, as they have concerns over the centre-back's height. Other options are likely to be explored, too.

Currently, Mauricio Pochettino can count on Thiago Silva, Benoît Badiashile, Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah. However, Badiashile is recovering from a serious injury as well, while Silva turns 39 in September, so Chelsea are weighing up if they need more depth.
