'Not a long-term solution': Nico Jackson under fire after missing gilt-edged chance

Chelsea's first half against Man City... was not actually that bad.

The Blues largely kept Pep Guardiola's team at bay while creating a few good chances for themselves.

The sad part, however, is that converting those chances turned out to be beyond their abilities. As it often happens, Nicolas Jackson might have made the worst miss.

Cole Palmer's line-splitting pass saw Malo Gusto running on the right, with Jackson alongside him well ahead of centre-backs.

Gusto crossed the ball to Jackson into the penalty area...

However, instead of shooting first time, Jackson tried to control the ball and gave Ederson time to come forward and block his shot.

Chels HQ: "Jackson... of course he misses. He just isn't a long-term solution."

Vince: "Jackson with a big chance but missed. Again, hit shots first time."

CFC Central: "As always with Jackson, has done everything right without the ball and done everything wrong with it."

Simon Phillips: "Even Jackson is out there berating himself for not scoring. No excuses there at this level I’m afraid."

A few minutes later, Raheem Sterling missed another one-on-one opportunity which did not help the fans' mood. However, the winger redeemed himself by finding the net at the end of the first half — with Jackson providing the assist.
