Chelsea set to bid for England U21 goalkeeper in search for future No.1

Chelsea are preparing a £20 million bid for Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford, viewing him as their future No.1. Despite a rocky start at Turf Moor and being dropped by Vincent Kompany before Burnley's relegation, the Stamford Bridge club believes in Trafford's potential.

The 21-year-old, part of the initial 33-man England squad for Euro 2024, could get a fresh start in the Premier League with Chelsea. Trafford's impressive stint with the England Under-21 team, where he didn't concede a single goal during their Euros win, has caught the eye of top clubs.

After moving to Burnley from Manchester City for £15 million last summer, Trafford is now on Chelsea's radar.

While Newcastle are also interested, insiders suggest Chelsea are leading the race. Burnley are likely to welcome the quick profit on their young keeper.
