Barca's ex-director Braida explains how Messi-Abidal conflict could have been avoided

Barcelona's former sporting director Ariedo Braida has given his verdict on the recent conflict between Leo Messi and Eric Abidal.

He told Rai Radio, as quoted by Diario AS: "Abidal is probably a good guy but a little inexperienced and he has paid for that inexperience."

Braida even revealed how he would have acted if he was in Abidal's shoes. He added: "I would have spoken to Messi first, I would have listened to what was happening, if something was happening, I would try to mediate, because, in football, mediation is very important."

Braida definitely spoke from his own experience as he used to work as Barcelona's sporting director until 2015. He remains one of the club's scouts.

As a reminder, the spat between Messi and Abidal occurred last week. The Frenchman said in the interview that the players didn't train seriously under Ernesto Valverde.

The Argentine hit back on Instagram just 90 minutes afterwards. He explicitly advised his former teammate to mind his own business instead.

Above all, Messi wrote: "I think that when it is spoken about the players, names should be given because if not it is contaminating everyone and spreading lies."
