Frenkie De Jong's agent Ali Dursun claims other clubs who wanted to sign the player were extremely upset that he chose Barcelona. PSG's Thomas Tuchel was 'literally in tears' but Frenkie's decision was final, the agent said to VI:
"That was not easy on the one hand, but at the same time - it was. Everyone knows how much interest there was and Frenkie carefully weighed all options against each other. I'm naturally a little more impatient.
"But once he had made his decision, it had to be Barcelona. I have known him for so long, I know when he really wants something. In other cases, I sometimes have to encourage him a little bit. That's what I do. I can do anything for him, but I am still myself. Frenkie knows that and is as he always has been. That's why we never have any problems."
Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur were all eager to sign the young talent but Barcelona was the only destination for him and it was the right decision to make.
