'He gave us a worrying fear': Laporta confirms Koeman was hospitalized on Thursday

Joan Laporta has just confirmed that Ronald Koeman was hospitalized on Thursday.

"Yesterday, Koeman gave us a worrying fear. He had to go to the hospital. But luckily everything is well. I told him to calm down and take it easy."

Koeman has had a running battle with heart issues after undergoing surgery for a similar complaint last May.

Koeman's stay at Barcelona is under probability as even Laporta hasn't given a green light for the Dutchman's stay at Camp Nou.

Albeit, the former Everton and Holland manager still has a year left on his current deal.

Laporta has 'doubts' over Koeman, considering Roberto Martinez as alternative: ESPN

Barcelona are considering Belgium coach Roberto Martinez as a possible replacement for Ronald Koeman this summer, according to ESPN's Moises Llorens and Sam Marsden.

Koeman and his agent Rob Jansen met with Barca president Joan Laporta on Tuesday at the Camp Nou offices to discuss his future after a rather mixed maiden season at the helm of the club.

Even though Jansen claimed that his client 'may continue even beyond next season' following the meeting, Laporta has 'doubts' over keeping Koeman for another campaign, as per the source.

Martinez, meanwhile, is tied with Belgium until the end of 2022 and his intention is to see out his current contract.

ESPN, however, say that the Spaniard's deal with Belgium includes a clause that allows him to leave if a "top club" come calling.

Martinez coached Swansea City, Wigan Athletic and Everton before taking over at Belgium in 2016. The 47-year-old has led the Belgian Red Devils to the third-placed finish at the 2018 FIFA World Cup since then.
