One episode that made Inaki Pena consider his future amid expiring contract - it has to do with Xavi

Inaki Pena's contract at Barcelona expires at the end of the season and he is yet to make a final decision about his future, Relevo (5 stars) report.

The parties agreed upon terms a few months back but then Inaki asked for time to contemplate his other options. The reason for it is Xavi's decision to start Marc-Andre ter Stegen ahead of Pena in the cup match against Real Sociedad in late January.

Traditionally, the cup competitions are played by the backup goalkeepers in Spain and Pena had appeared in the two previous matches. When the opposition became more serious, Xavi opted for his first choice, which made Inaki think that he doesn't have the coach' full trust.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper is worried about the amount of playing time he will get if he stays. This term so far, he's made three appearances for Barca -- against third-tier Intercity and Ceuta in the cup and in the meaningless away game against Viktoria Plzen.

Meanwhile, Pena has offers from Galatasaray and Fenerbahce on the table, with one Premier League club also said to be interested. If the La Masia graduate decides to leave, he is expected to have more prominence.
