Hansi Flick is expected to be announced as Barcelona’s new manager soon after Xavi’s sacking was confirmed.
According to Sport, the German coach has already started talks with Barca sporting director Deco on the summer transfer business.
The two have reportedly agreed that the club’s priority summer target needs to be Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich.
Flick got the best out of Kimmich during his time at Bayern Munich. He would love the German midfielder in his project at Barca and will personally push to convince him of a transfer.
Barca are now looking into ways for not paying over the odds for the midfielder. They are trying to work a deal to sign him for as low as €40m.
Flick is also reportedly eager to sign Bayer Leverkusen man Exequiel Palacios as well. That's because he desires to improve the midfield depth at Barca.
Kimmich has been a long-term target for Barca and the club tried to sign him last year too. The 29-year-old made 43 appearances for Bayern in the 2023/24 season, scoring two goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions.
