'Finally people could see why I’m a part of LFC': Chirivella opens up on why Everton FA Cup clash was so special for him

The last round of FA Cup was pretty remarkable for Liverpool and the Reds' youngsters. Klopp's kids beat Everton's practically senior team 1-0 and for some the lads this game will always have a special place in their hearts.

Pedro Chirivella is certainly one of them, as he feels it was a clash where he finally managed to prove his worth and produced a complete performance, which was a huge relief for the 22-year-old.

"I think we showed that [the hunger for the game]. We were ready," Pedro told Liverpoolfc.com.

"In the day before the game in training we showed that we were capable of playing a big performance. After the game everyone was really happy, really proud of how we performed. It was very, very good.

"It was a relief for me, personally. I thought I played a good game and finally people could see why I’m a part of Liverpool Football Club.

"Hopefully I can build up from here, in 20 or 25 years’ time I don’t want to think what could have happened. Hopefully this is the start."

Pedro received special praise from Klopp after the game:

There have been some rumours regarding Chirivella's future at Liverpool, including the ones that linked the youngster with an almost imminent outgoing transfer.

However, after that Merseyside derby his departure became rather improbable as some reports suggested that the Reds are lining up a new contract for the lad.

Chirivella now hopes to make his 10th senior appearance for Liverpool in the clash against Shrewsbury Town on Sunday.

"I think it’s the biggest game of the season for them or even of their lives," he said. "Liverpool coming to Shrewsbury to play, it will be a full stadium. We have to be ready for a hard game and I think we’ll be ready for that.

"It will be a tricky one. I think we have to approach it the same way we always do – try to win and play good football. I think we’re going to be ready for that."
