Ibrahima Konate reportedly set to start in France's World Cup opener vs Australia

Ibrahima Konate looks set to be in France's starting XI on Tuesday when Les Bleus take on Australia in their first World Cup game.

According to French media outlet RMC, Didier Deschamps is preparing his side to play in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Konate set to play alongside his former RB Leipzig teammate Dayot Upamecano.

Konate may have benefitted from Raphael Varane's injury. Jules Kounde, Benjamin Pavard, Theo Hernandez, Benoit Badiashile and William Saliba are other players who could realistically play there - but Konate appears to have received the nod ahead of them.

Considering the fact that he's only earned two senior caps for France, that is a big show of trust in Konate from Deschamps.
