How much Liverpool earned from World Cup: revealed

Any club that has released a player to play at the World Cup is due to be compensated. FIFA will pay approximately $10,000 for each day each player has spent away in Qatar.

Those compensations are split into thirds, however. One third is paid to the club where the player was registered in 2020-21, another is for those in 2021-22 and the remainder to the current club. That is to ensure that former clubs are rewarded.

The Athletic made some calculations to establish how much each Premier League club will be compensated.

Despite having only seven players at the World Cup, Liverpool are due to be paid $1.8m.

That's thanks to Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Alisson, Fabinho and Virgil van Dijk all reaching the quarter-finals. Liverpool will be paid $280,000 for each.

Ibrahima Konate will bring only $240,000 despite France reaching the final. That is because he only joined Liverpool in 2021.

Darwin Nunez who only arrived at Anfield this year and exited the World Cup at the group stage has earned the club only $60,000.

On the other hand, Takumi Minamino, Xherdan Shaqiri and Neco Williams brought in some money for Liverpool despite leaving the club earlier.

Tottenham ($2.4m), Manchester United ($2.65m), Chelsea ($2.86m) and Manchester City ($4m) are the only sides to receive a bigger payout from FIFA.
