Konate 8, Salah 4: Liverpool player ratings in Brighton defeat

Good

Konate: 8/10. Conceded a corner that led to Ferguson's goal but apart from that, was absolutely impeccable at the back. Made a brilliant block on Ferguson in the 80th minute and showed his strength to prevent a Mac Allister one-on-one shortly after that.

Elliott: 7.5. Broke the deadlock with a cool finish, came close to assisting Salah. A very good showing by the youngster.

Decent

Allison: 7. A fantastic save on March in the 71st minute.

Bajcetic: 7. Another good display by the youngster, who held the midfield well against Brighton's attackers. Got a yellow card early on but stayed on and did well.

Trent: 6.5. Made some brilliant passes and could have gotten an assist had the forwards been more clinical. Still, Mitoma had a lot of fun against Trent.

Milner: 6.5. Didn't look out of place at all after coming on in 59th minute. Good against fast-paced Mitoma, also managed to make several good passes going forward. However, didn't get close to Estupinian allowing him to cross to Mitoma, who scored the winning goal for the hosts.

Gakpo: 6.5. Was disappointing in the opening 30 minutes, losing the ball too often. Grew into the game and made a few Firmino-esque moves, showing his class. Still, clearly not suited to playing centrally and is a bit too slow.

Keita: 6.5. Brilliant tackle and pass for Salah to launch the counter-attack that led to Liverpool's opener. Sometimes gave the ball away in easy situations though.

Poor

Robertson: 5. Wasn't really helpful up front, gave the ball away too often. Quite solid defensively though but the winning goal came from the area he should have been protecting.

Salah: 4. Did well to assist Elliott but wasted two great chances. It looks like he's lost his confidence in front of goal. Mo's poor finishing let the team down today.

Darwin: 4. Was brought on to provide a spark up front but didn't do anything of note, misplacing a simple pass to Gakpo in a dangerous situation once.

Gomez: 3. Got skinned by Mitoma in the six-yard box as the Japanese scored the winner for the Seagulls. The goal looked painfully similar to what the Reds conceded against Welbeck two weeks ago in a 3-0 defeat, Mitoma used the same trick against Joe.

Fabinho: 1. Came on in the 85th minute and nearly got sent off second later for an ugly challenge on Ferguson. Not good at all.

Others: Thiago 6, Henderson 5.5, Jones N/A
