Mohamed Salah has used his position as the most famous Arabic athlete to speak up about the Israeli–Palestine conflict which has escalated into a full-scale war in the past two weeks.
The Liverpool forward has posted a video on Twitter where he shares his position.
"It's not always easy to speak in time like this," he says in the video.
"There's been too much violence. The escalation in the recent weeks is unbearable to witness. All lives are sacred and must be protected. The massacres need to stop.
"Families are being torn apart. What's clear now is that humanitarian aid to Gaza must be allowed immediately. The people there are in terrible conditions.
"The scenes at the hospital last night were horrifying. Gaza need food, water and medical supplies urgently. I am calling on the world leaders to get together to prevent more slaughter of innocent souls.
"Humanity must prevail."
