Anthony Martial's goal rate only behind Eden Hazard & one more Prem star

A brace against Chelsea last weekend raised Anthony Martial's stock quite significantly. Those were his second and third accurate strikes in the Premier Leauge this campaign [4 in total] over just 351 minutes played.

A goal every 117 minutes on average makes it the third best result in the league, inferior only to Eden Hazard and Sergio Aguero who are consistent starters for their clubs. As it can be seen below, the Frenchman is the least involved player in the whole top-20 of those with at least three goals this term:

Romelu Lukaku is also on the list with a goal every 743 minutes. This current rate is commensurate with the likes of Sadio Mane, Gilfy Sigurdsson, as well as underfiring Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah.

Martial will soon find out if he starts against Everton at Old Trafford. With Lukaku not living up to expectations, there's every chance the Frenchman does although Jose Mourinho tends to rotate his squad after European nights. The 22-year-old played a whole 90 minutes against Juventus on Tuesday.

More positive news is the rumour from a trustworthy and player-linked source RMC Sport who claim Martial will put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the club regardless of whether Jose Mourinho stays in charge or not.

Martial to start on Sunday? In what role?
