Three times pundits had to cut Graeme Souness off for Paul Pogba slander

Graeme Souness obsession with Paul Pogba gets so awkward at times that even the 66-year-old's colleagues have to cut the former Liverpool man off live on air.

  • March 2020: Sky Sports Dave Jones host has to shut Souness as he randomly starts slandering injured Pogba

Souness said: "Everton got Andre Gomes back in a fraction of the time... Paul Pogba, I see him dancing at a wedding, shooting hoops, and a cynic in me thinks he doesn't want to be at United. He doesn't wanna play for United. How can you not wanna play for Man United?"

Presenter Dave Jones had to cut his colleague out: "We can't criticise him [Pogba] when he's not playing."

  • January 2017: Jamie Carragher defends Pogba as Souness blames the Frenchman for Liverpool's goal in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford

The ex-Liverpool defender said: "In terms of Jose Mourinho choosing Pogba to pick him [Dejan Lovren] up, he knows who his best header is. He's not stupid."

"On the first two corners, Pogba didn't lose his man, he got blocked off. That's credit to Liverpool. If three or four players are blocking you, it is really difficult. So the reason Pogba handballed is simply because he was blocked."

However, Souness interrupted the former centre-back: "It's not just about blocking, Jamie. Your starting position should be better. Pogba's not blocked in the first instance. He's blocked by his own player."

  • October 2018: Jamie Redknapp stops yet another Pogba rant from Souness

Speaking before Manchester United's away game at Chelsea, Souness said: "You don't pay that kind of money for someone who can only play against the lesser teams. He has to turn up and show he is a proper player.

"For me he has the potential, but I think in the two years he's been at United I have not seen any improvement. Is that because United are disjointed or because they can't find a system that totally suits him?

"I think the manager [Jose Mourinho ]has bent over backwards to try and play him in what he feels is his best position but I still see a young man who at time looks lost to me."

Redknapp was then forced to intervene: "I think we talk about him too much at times. I think it's not just about him today."
