Man United set to donate 60,000 meals to NHS frontline workers amidst coronavirus pandemic

Manchester United, along with the club's foundation, Mealforce and Bidfood are set to deliver 60,000 cooked meals to NHS frontline workers, reports The Independent.

These free meals will be mass-delivered across four places in Manchester in an attempt to alleviate the troubles faced by the NHS staff.

This would primarily benefit the staff at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. Normally, these workers are required to arrange for their own means while on duty.

About 80 staff members from United have volunteered to prepare these meals in Old Trafford's kitchens - while abiding by social distancing rules.

The costs for buying the ingredients, preparing and delivering the food will be shared between the club and the Manchester United Foundation.

One of the driving forces behind this initiative, Mealforce has delivered about 500,000 meals over the last four weeks to frontline NHS workers across the UK.

Coronavirus cases are continuing to rise in the UK and across the world. Such acts of generosity are indeed a great way to support those risking their lives to keep us safe.
