Bruno Fernandes breaks Frank Lampard's record to become most prolific midfielder in single season

On Thursday night, Bruno Fernandes scored his 28th goal in the 2020/21 season. It will remain in the records as his goal even though his strike took a heavy deflection from Nat Phillips before going into the net.

This goal means that Bruno has the most prolific season by a Premier League midfielder.

Previously, the record was held by Chelsea's Frank Lampard who scored 27 goals across all competitions in the 2009/10 season. Back then, the Blues won the Premier League and the FA Cup.

The only trophy Bruno can win this season is the Europa League: in the final game, Man United will take on Villarreal on May 26.
