Dean Henderson reportedly carrying hip injury for months prior to England withdrawal

Dean Henderson has been carrying a hip injury for a few months before it became an issue that forced his withdrawal from the England squad, according to reporter Jonathan Shrager.

Despite that, the goalkeeper still played through it in the last months of the campaign with Man United as he was determined to establish himself as the first choice.

It worked to an extent, as Henderson effectively shared the goalkeeping duties with David de Gea since the latter's return from Spain in April.

The source claims that the injury will not require surgery and that after a rest, Henderson will be able to start the pre-season training with Man United.

He's far from the only United player to be playing through pain: Marcus Rashford's issues are well documented, while Harry Maguire strives to play for England even though he's not fully recovered yet.
