First PL start for Van de Beek? Select your favorite United XI vs Chelsea from 2 options

Man United hope to get back to winning ways in the Premier League against leaders Chelsea on Sunday.

The Red Devils will miss Paul Pogba, Raphael Varane, and Mason Greenwood for the game. Edinson Cavani is also a major doubt, while Fred and Luke Shaw face fitness tests to be fit.

So here are some of the ways United could line up against the Blues.

Option 1: Necessary changes from Villarreal win

After their impressive performances from the bench against Villarreal, it’s safe to say that Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford will start this one. With Fred doubtful, Donny van de Beek could also get his first start in the Premier League of the season alongside Scott McTominay.

Eric Bailly is likely to get a chance as he replaces the suspended Harry Maguire. Alex Telles could also keep his place because of question marks over Shaw’s availability.

Option: Slight tweak in the formation

Despite their fitness worries, if Fred and Shaw are deemed available for the Chelsea game, they’ll be in contention to start. Michael Carrick could switch things up for this to catch the hosts off-guard with his formation.

United could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, which they could often play under incoming manager Ralf Rangnick. With Fred playing just ahead of McTominay, he could help press the Chelsea midfielders and win back possession to create counter-attacking opportunities for United.
