Wayne Rooney opens up on possibly managing Man United someday

In a recent press conference, Wayne Rooney explained that he turned down the Everton job to focus on Derby County.

Manchester United fans loved his loyalty towards the Championship club that's currently struggling financially.

During the same event, a reporter asked Rooney if he'd ever return to coach the Red Devils.

The former attacker replied: "As I’ve said before, I’m committed to this football club until someone above me tells me otherwise.

"I speak to people at Manchester United on a regular basis so I’m sure if they were to come calling it would have already happened.

"I’m committed to Derby County and until someone says ‘you’re not welcome to be the manager here’ I’m here."

Rooney remains our highest goalscorer to date, having scored 253 goals during his time at the club.

There were some surprising links to Rooney after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked but it's worth noting that the Englishman is yet to show that he can manage a Premier League side.

As far as United are concerned, Ralf Rangnick will remain in charge till the end of the season. We were supposed to appoint a permanent manager after that but fresh reports have claimed that the club hierarchy have put the search on hold and are impressed with Ralf.
