Man City 2-1 Man United, FT. LIVE updates, stats, reactions, ratings & more

😭 A brief summary of the game: Man United played with virtually no attack in the all-important FA Cup final. Chance after chance was squandered by our attackers while a disjointed midfield allowed Man City numerous opportunities to test our defence.

Speaking of the defence, it was shambolic at the back. De Gea let us down during the second goal and Lindelof was absolutely outplayed by Haaland on more occasions than one.

City were far from perfect though and the Red Devils could have capitalised on that. Unfortunately, with a toothless attack, there wasn't much that could be done.

United fought valiantly till the end but have nothing to show for it. City were the better team not just tactically but also in spirit.

🏁FULL-TIME. City walk away with the win at Wembley.

🕒 90'+5' And that's full-time. Man City win the FA Cup 2023.

💬 TheBusbyBabe: "That was chaotic and ultimately cruel to watch."

💬 MUFCarmy: "How haven't United scored? The crossbar is struck and City survive."

🕒 90'+2' HOW DID MCTOMINAY MISS THAT! Shambles at Wembley, United are surely out of this.

💬 markgoldbridge: "The headlines will be not marking Gundogan twice but let's be honest. Our attack has been an embarrassment. No threat at all."

💬 FourFourJordan: "Garnacho is young but he should still be fuming he’s not started this game. Been our best player in the ten minutes he’s had."

💬 UnitedPeoplesTV: "I swear to god. Wout, please. Just do it."

🕒 85' United are just not able to get an opening. City had a couple of goos chances to score but Haaland hit one wide and Manuel Akanji was unable to reach Bernardo's cross.

🔃 SUB: Scott McTominay replaces Victor Lindelof.

🕒 74' Garnacho has a shot that just goes wide. Rashford had another attempt too which didn't quite work out. United desperately need another goal here.

💬 FourFourJordan: "Rashford does know this is a cup final, right? Against our local rivals?"

🕒 71' City almost score again but the effort is ruled offside.

🕒 61' Another dangerous Gundogan chance but De Gea manages to thwart away the danger this time.

🕒 55' De Gea and Fred are letting the team down and so are a few other players. Ten Hag and the rest have done their bit and at the end of the day, football is a team sport.

💬 AidanWalshMUFC: "Surely De Gea has sealed his exit alone from this game."

💬 FourFourJordan: "United need to buy a brand new fax machine and make sure it fucking works this time. Get rid of him."

💬 samuelluckhurst: "Dear me. De Gea. Again. No excuse the ball goes through a lot of players. It trickled along. Too similar to the West Ham goal. Poor goalkeeping."

⚽ GOAL! Man City score via Ilkay Gundogan again.

🕒 45' Second half is underway.

United players rated in first half vs Man City

Good: Wan-Bissaka — 8, Casemiro — 7, Fernandes — 7.

Average: De Gea — 5, Varane — 6, Shaw — 6, Fred — 5.

Poor: Lindelof — 4, Eriksen — 4, Sancho — 3, Rashford — 4.

🕒 45'+4' That's half-time after an exhilarating first half at Wembley.

💬 TheUnitedStand: "Has the referee lost his cards? How have City not had a player booked yet..."

🕒 34' And just like that, United are back in the game! Bruno was cool as a cucumber under pressure and made no mistake as he slotted it home. This should give United the confidence to get their hunger back to lift that damn trophy.

💬 samuelluckhurst: "Dias tried to whip the crowd up. Talk about a pressure penalty. But that is why Fernandes is the real captain at United."

⚽GOOOAAAALLLLLL!!!!! Bruno Fernandes equalises for United through a penalty after a handball by Jack Grealish. Phew.

🕒 25' David De Gea goes down after picking up a knock and receives treatment. Nothing going United's way in this one. City are dominating on every count and even when United have the ball, they are unable to put the chances to bed.

💬 samuelluckhurst: "Sancho's body language is all wrong. Has so far looked scared of touching a City player and seems fazed by the occasion. Haaland getting a lot of joy pulling onto Lindelof having had no joy against Varane and Shaw in January."

💬 jamesducker: "Sancho looks petrified out there."

🕒 15' A couple of good chances for City but thankfully, nothing comes off it. Looks like United are unable to shake off what happened in the first 15 seconds. Jadon Sancho and Victor Lindelof are the biggest weak links right now...

🕒 11' It's up to United now - they can either take the setback and bounce back stronger or let this define the rest of the game. For the sake of our season, we hope it's the former.

💬 centredevils via Twitter: "Sir Alex Ferguson seen shaking his head in the stands. Us too, Sir Alex."

💬 markgoldbridge via Twitter: "Getting absolutely dominated here..."

💬 lauriewhitwell via Twitter: "Disastrous start for United. 15 seconds. Poor organisation to the second ball. Several United players ushering for calm after that. It was a comeback win at Old Trafford but City look primed."

🕒 7' Man United certainly look more sober after that nightmarish start to the FA Cup final. So far, there's a huge gulf in quality between the two sides.

⚽ GOAL! Man City find the opening within 15 seconds, that's a new record.

🕒 0' Things begin at Wembley.

🏁 KICK-OFF! Let's go Reds!!!!

📸 Look who's in attendance - a certain Jurrien Timber!

🗣️ The boss explains his selections

Erik ten Hag: "Midfield is always the key area, but it's not only about that – you will see in the game.

"We won't always have possession, it was like that at Old Trafford, but we dominated the game by creating more chances, taking more shots, and that's also what we must do in this game."
