When asked about Gareth Southgate's links to replacing Erik ten Hag as manager, Roy Keane said on the Stick To Football podcast: "I could see that happening, yeah.
"Everyone is thinking he is probably going to leave England this summer if he has a good championship, thinking if they could win it.
"And if they don’t you’re thinking maybe you have ran your race with it.
"He [Southgate] has that connection with Dan Ashworth, and has worked with him previously. Yeah [I could see it happening]."
Ashworth is in talks to become the Manchester United sporting director and will have a big role in determining transfers.
Southgate is reportedly one of the top options for Sir Jim Ratcliffe to replace Ten Hag if the opportunity presents itself.
At present, the Dutchman's job is presumably safe but he's due to begin talks with Man United over his future with only a year left on his contract.
