When asked about how the England squad feels about the quality of Man United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, Declan Rice said: “I’ve been asked a lot by my friends, ‘What’s Mainoo like?’ He’s really, really impressive.
“He’s so composed. I have come across so many 18-year-olds who are top players but don’t have that full package, just because of who they are as a person, but he is so level-headed.
“That is the first thing I learnt about him. He keeps himself to himself, he’s really quiet if you have a conversation with him. He’s just a really normal kid. I saw his family the other night after the game and you can tell they are a really closely connected, loving family and that bodes well for a player to really go and push on.
“The sky is the limit for him. He’s an amazing player and I am looking forward to hopefully playing many games for England with him.”
Mainoo is reportedly set to get his first England start when the Three Lions face off against Belgium in an international friendly match on Tuesday (March 26). This comes after he received his debut for England against Brazil to cap off a dream month.
The Englishman has been the Red Devils’ breakout star of the 2023/24 season, scoring two goals in 20 appearances so far.
