Gareth Southgate clears the air on Marcus Rashford: 'He's not injured. I wanted to play Anthony Gordon'

In his post-match interview, Gareth Southgate confirmed Marcus Rashford not playing against Belgium had nothing to do with a possible injury.

Rashford was afforded a 15-minute cameo vs Brazil and was an unused substitute in the 2-2 draw with Belgium.

Initial reports claimed Rashford was carrying a knock since the Nottingham Forest clash. However, Southgate has confirmed that is not the case.

Quoted by the Daily Mirror, the England boss said the following when asked if the Manchester United forward is injured: "No [he's not injured], I wanted to see Anthony Gordon again.

"I thought he had an excellent impact in the first game and I thought that [James] Maddison coming into that area could open things up for us a bit."
