Antony looked very annoyed with the manner of Man United’s 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace. He was seen having a bit of an argument with Mason Mount and Andre Onana after the game.
He had his mouth covered with his hands, not allowing lip-readers to be able to decipher exactly what he was complaining about.
But Paul Scholes had a theory for what might’ve been going on there and told Optus Sports: “He has three fingers up there, I don't know what that means. He is saying something to Mason Mount he is obviously not happy with. Mason Mount seems the quietest out of the three of them.
“What's that going to do, I didn't see any of them communicating on the football pitch. That doesn't look good. I don't think that's good for the manager. People are obviously talking and saying things he [Antony] doesn't agree with. When he's putting those three fingers up, maybe he's saying we should be having three in midfield, why don't we have three there?
“I don't know, we have no idea because we can't lip read. But there is obviously a problem there and they obviously disagree with something the manager is doing.”
Antony and Onana both had really poor games, with the Brazilian failing to create much and the Cameroonian goalkeeper conceding some bad goals. Mount couldn’t create much either, but showed a decent work-rate to at least try and salvage a result for his side.
The loss to Palace means that Man United are set for their worst finish in a Premier League season in terms of points total, and all Erik ten Hag & co can do is win their remaining matches to salvage a disappointing season.
