'He has to take the next step': Ten Hag sets challenge for Licha after first start in months

Erik ten Hag is eager to see Lisandro Martinez pick up where he left off before injuring himself this season.

Licha has made it to the starting XI against Brighton in the final Premier League game of 2023/24 after battling a lengthy injury for months.

Manchester United have nothing to lose and are desperate for a win to end the campaign on a high. And Ten Hag believes it's the perfect time for Licha to reinstate himself in the squad.

Speaking to MUTV, quoted by the MEN, Ten Hag explained: "We will see [how big an impact Licha can have].

"We have seen that when he is playing, he adds a lot to our quality of the game. But of course, he didn't play for a long time.

"He came in last Wednesday [as a substitute] and now he has his first start, so he has to make the next step for today.

"Hopefully, he can have an impact on the team."
