6 bright spots & 1 disappointment: Madrid players ratings vs Levante

Madrid players who impressed against Levante:

Raphael Varane - 7/10

The Frenchman bossed the defensive line and got also heavily involved in the attacking movements. He won SIX aerial duels and attempted two shots. In fact, Varane was the most solid centre-half in Sergio Ramos' absence even though he could have positioned himself better when Levante netted an equalizer.

Casemiro - 7/10

The Brazilian has seemingly completely recovered from an ankle injury which affected his performance with Marcos Llorente injured. His immense physicality allowed to stop several dangerous moments from Levante players. Finally, it was Casemiro who won the match-winning penalty thanks to his incredible reaction.

Toni Kroos - 7/10

The German was the true heart of the midfield zone as he completed each of his 34 passes during the first half. He was instrumental in keeping and retaining the possession, moreover, he delivered the majority of the set-pieces. Kroos even attempted one shot on target, however, he was surprisingly taken off after just 68 minutes.

Gareth Bale - 7/10

Santiago Solari praised the Welshman for demonstrating anger and passion which eventually decided the outcome of the clash. He led the attack with Karim Benzema substituted and calmly converted the match-winning penalty. Bale's refuse to celebrate the goal could possibly indicate his desire to start in more game.

Karim Benzema - 8/10

The Frenchman once again delivered a truly impressive performance as he was all over the attack during the first half of the game. He opened the scoring shortly before the break with a precise kick from the spot and could double Madrid's break after the interval with a powerful header. Against Levante, Benzema scored his 20th goal of the campaign.

Vinicius Jr. - 8/10

As it usually happens in Real Madrid's most recent matches, the 18-year-old is the main dangerman up front. His pace and explosiveness allowed the youngster to create numerous chances for his teammates, however, his decision-making and precision still need some polishing. The Brazilian was close to restoring Blancos' lead as his strike was saved by the goalkeeper.

Madrid player who could have done better:

Nacho - 4/10

Shortly speaking, the defender really let down his teammates as he earned two needless bookings and got eventually sent off at the end of the game. He was often reckless and conceded several dangerous fouls. He will now miss the upcoming league Clasico due to a suspension. Luckily, Sergio Ramos returns right in time!

Dani Carvajal - 5/10

Sergio Reguilon - 6/10

Luka Modric - 6/10
