Injury crisis at Madrid: four more players got hurt in Celta win

Real Madrid made three substitutions in the highly entertaining 4-2 Celta win, however, all of them were due to painful knocks. It is a huge blow for Los Blancos as they have now lost the majority of their defenders to injury.

Casemiro was the first to leave the pitch. It happened very early in the game - in the 18th minute. At first, the Brazilian looked to be ready to continue, however, it soon became clear he is badly hurt. Cadena COPE report that the initial diagnosis is the ankle sprain.

Sergio Reguilon was unable to complete the first half either as he was replaced in the 44th minute. He seemed to have pulled a muscle. Finally, Nacho started struggling due to an injury right after the hour mark of the game. He was substituted in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, his problems is the most worrying.

It is now obvious that Los Blancos' most problematic area is the defensive one for the time being. Right now six out of total eight defenders have serious fitness concerns: Dani Carvajal, Marcelo, Raphael Varane, Nacho, Jesus Vallejo and Sergio Reguilon. Madrid had to finish the Celta match with a bizarre defensive formation of Sergio Ramos, Javi Sanchez and Lucas Vazquez.

Moreover, Gareth Bale also received a heavy blow to the ankle in the middle of the Celta match. The coach, Santiago Solari, would later confirm the Welshman had to continue playing with a swollen ankle. Given that Bale is very injury prone, this blow could become aggravated and rule him out for an indefinite period of time, if everything goes badly.
