Nacho Fernandez enters 19th season at Real Madrid as oldest veteran with 15 trophies

Congratulations to Nacho Fernandez! The defender is nearing his 19th season at the Casa Blanca with 190 appearances and 15 trophies to his name. The Spaniard has been at Real Madrid longer than Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and Karim Benzema and was involved in many of our important victories.

According to an earlier report by Marca, Nacho decided to stay at Real Madrid despite other clubs reportedly being interested in the centre-back. The Spaniard had some options to leave amidst Eder Militao's arrival to the Santiago Bernabeu but chose to remain a Blanco and fight for his place in the squad. Obviously, Nacho has no desire to change clubs anytime soon.

Fernandez is a unique player in the current squad. Out of all the players in our team, only Nacho has never wore any other team's shirt. The defender started his professional career at the Bernabeu and it looks like he intends to end it there. Only three footballers have done that - Santiago Bernabeu (1911-1927), Chendo (1982-1988) and Sanchis (1983-2001).

Nacho was a subject of interest from Inter, Roma and Napoli despite having one of the worst seasons in his Real Madrid career. At least that's what Diario AS said. The outlet reported that all three Italian clubs have contacted our team to ask about the defender's availability.

Do you still believe in Nacho despite recent failures?
