Can we rely on Alvaro Odriozola as Dani Carvajal gets older? The latest performances from the youngsters are far from satisfactory and we might need to sign another quality right-back to replace Carvajal. We do hope that it's just a matter of time and practice before Alvaro can be one of the invincible parts of our squad.
The whole situation with our defence is more than worrying. Yes, Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane have been more or less effective during their performances. But both of them are going to leave Real Madrid at some point and we need to have good substitutes for our senior veterans.
Neither Nacho or Vallejo look good enough. Mind you, Fernandez is not exactly a youngster himself. With Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy in the squad, the hope is still very much here. Don't get us wrong, we're not trying to expose negative moments more than they already are. It's just that our defending performance creates real problems and costs those important La Liga points.
Overall, Zidane still has a lot of time to find the right combination of defenders and there's also enough chances to create an interplay between our veterans, youngsters and newcomers. The thing is - La Liga is already happening with Barcelona now just one point behind.
