Militao great, Vinicius frustrated: rating 3 Real Madrid players from Brazil’s win over Switzerland

Brazil picked up a narrow 1-0 win over Switzerland in their second World Cup group game. Three Real Madrid players featured in the game, as we rate them.

Playing as a makeshift right-back, Militao was rock solid in the new role. He was disciplined with his defensive work and hardly allowed any attacks through his side. Militao made 6 possession recoveries, one interception and completed 5/8 long balls – helping his side get another clean sheet.

Rodrygo – 7.5

The Real Madrid youngster came up big as a substitute again. Brought on in the second half, he added a more cutting edge final product to Brazil’s attack. He helped create the move leading to Vinicius Jr’s goal that was disallowed.

Rodrygo even got the assist of Casemiro’s winner with a clever flick and created some big chances in the second half. Unlucky to have a potential late goal blocked off.

Vinicius Jr had a frustrating outing in the final third. He made a few impressive dribbling runs and tormented the opposition players with his movement. But his final product wasn’t the cleanest.

Vinicius missed a major chance in the first half and then saw his well-taken goal in the second half ruled out. Wasted a few counter-attacks, but showed great energy to keep going at the Swiss defenders from the left-wing.
