Real Madrid will not sign Mbappe in 2024 (reliability: 4 stars)

Real Madrid have discarded the idea of signing Kylian Mbappe even in 2024, Cadena SER sources say.

The decision has been made and Real Madrid will move on from the Mbappe saga after sizing up the economic conditions of signing him.

Madrid considered that Mbappe will earn nothing less than €20m if he joins next summer, even as a free agent. Sources say he will demand wages in the region of €35m equivalent to what he earns at PSG.

That would shatter Real Madrid's wage structure which caps at €11m per season. Thus, Madrid are not willing to pay Mbappe three times more than their current highest earner Toni Kroos.

Furthermore, it is reported that Mbappe will be 26 in 2024. That age also violates Real Madrid's transfer policy of not signing players above the age of 24/25.

Recently, Real Madrid came out with a statement distancing themselves from any sort of transfer negotiations with Mbappe.

Los Blancos may already be planning on signing a younger and equally deadly number 9 next summer if this holds true.
