Dele Alli: 'Rivalry with Chelsea is bigger than the one with Arsenal'

Spurs midfielder Dele Alli has discussed rivalries between London-based clubs. The 24-year-old has conceded that Tottenham players see the North London derby as less important than their rivalry with Chelsea.

"I think if you ask the fans they will give you a different answer," he told Copa90 as cited by Sports Illustrated, "but as players - the way things have been going with the league and the games - the rivalry with Chelsea is bigger than the one with Arsenal, because of what they have done to us in recent years.

"For fans it’s different, because the North London derby is massive, but as players I think it’s Chelsea."

Here's a different take from an Arsenal player:

Tottenham and Arsenal are normally considered each other's main rivals, with the meetings between the two clubs attracting a lot of interest from the fans from both sides.

In recent years, the Gunners have somewhat while Tottenham's league standings have significantly improved under former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Arsenal have not finished above Spurs since the 2015-2016 season.

Earlier, ex-Gunner Wojciech Szczesny, who is currently at Juventus, discussed feeling extremely happy after beating Spurs in the Champions League. Even though the Pole is no longer an Arsenal player, he enjoyed beating the Lilywhites.

Another former Gunner, Bayern winger Serge Gnabry, upset both the Lilywhites and the Blues by scoring four and two goals against these sides, respectively. The German sent Twitter messages to Arsenal fans on both occasions.
