Transfer rumours

Martin Odegaard is on the cusp of a move to the Emirates. The 22-year-old will join the Gunners on a six-month loan with no buyout option. A conversation with Mikel Arteta convinced him to join the Gunners.

Odegaard's move means Arsenal won't sign Brandt and Buendia.

But we could see another addition as the Gunners are said to be looking for a left-back to cover for Kieran Tierney. Soton's Ryan Bertrand is an option; the name of Tyrick Mitchell (Palace) is doing the rounds, too.

Meanwhile, Shkodran Mustafi is said to be ready to bid farewell with Arsenal this month. Barcelona don't seem to be very keen despite earlier rumours but the situation could develop fast.

Mesut Ozil is still officially an Arsenal player. As Arteta explained, Fenerbahce could not announce his move due to Covid-19 restrictions in Turkey.

Confirmed transfers

Sokratis has cancelled his contract and left the club.

Arsenal have signed keeper Mat Ryan on six-month loan from Brighton.

Rivals

Chelsea recently lost to Leicester City and continue their slide down the league table, so the Gunners are only 2 points away from Lampard's side.

Liverpool sensationally lost to Burnley at Anfield and dropped to fourth place. Arsenal are seven points adrift from the reigning champions.

Arsenal are finally in the top ten but could be surpassed by Aston Villa, who had several games postponed because of coronavirus cases in the squad.
