'He lost his way in the last 13-14 months': Fan names key reasons why Arteta is his biggest disappointment of the season

"Arteta! Plain and Simple!" Tribuna's Abdul-Karim Barrie wrote as a reply to a question of what is his biggest disappointment of the season. "I honestly kept the faith because of his amazing first 3 months. He lost his way in the last 13-14 months.

"It all started going downhill when he became a company boy by listening to our owners and sidelined Ozil, our playmaker that made everything ticked in his first 3 months of employment. He told them he can play without a playmaker.

"Everybody thinks because we won the FA Cup without a playmaker it proved it can be done. It's a cup game, anything can happen. You just have to look at how we finished last season to get an idea he can't coach without a playmaker.

"The FA CUP just papered over the big cracks! This season he didn't learn from his past mistake or misjudgement of omitting Ozil from the team in the 2nd half of last season. Nor did we sign a playmaker, nor did we even try to use our own academy playmaker ESR in the first 3 months.

"It has to take illness to Willian and others for him to throw ESR into the folk on game day against Chelsea late in December. He told him on game day he is playing. Reckless as it comes!

"And then comes the decision to sell Martinez only for him to sanction BladeRunner aka Runnarson 🙄, who will not play in my backyard pickup football game.

"What about the decision to send Saliba on loan for error-prone OLD LEGS David Luiz and Holding who lacks basic 101 defending? What about the decision to send Guendouzi on loan instead of Willock who needed it more. What about the decision to consistently play Bellerin over Cedric and AMN?

"And then at the start of the season he was playing Eddie over Lacazette, Smh! HERE COMES THE MOST LAUGHABLE OF THEM ALL, Sticking with WILLIAN ALL season long after his funk the entire season, hurting the growth of PEPE and REISS in the process.

"To finally hit the nail on the coffin, he threw away our semi-finals Europa against the coach that was sacked. The manager/coach you replaced by playing a false 9 unnecessarily in the first leg and Xhaka at LB.

"And in the return leg at home that you needed a goal to qualify and we came out of the block playing as if we are up by in the first leg. No urgency, wrong mentality and team selection when it was clear to everyone that Xhaka should have been playing in the MF and Saka at LB.

"When Xhaka got injured the simplest plan should be Elneny comes in Saka plays at LB, Martinelli plays at LW and Pepe at RW with ESR at 10 and Aubameyang upfront. To close his stupid and lack of coaching aptitude, he took off our best striker late in the game when we needed a goal.

"When the simple change should have been take off Bellerin for Lacazette. That forward line of Pepe, Martinelli, Auba and Lacazette could have gotten us the goal with 10+ mins to go. Arteta has been such a disappointment I don't even know where to store my emotions.

"Right now I think even if we give him all the resources to bring in his players, I doubt he will take us anywhere. My reason for this is plain and simple; HE IS NOT A WILLING LEARNER!

"If somehow magically or through divine intervention, he becomes a great learner over the summer and recaptures his ideologies of coach and managing the team from mid-December 2019 to mid-March 2020, only then can he take us further to achieve great things next season!"
