Ex-Arsenal striker named 'most in-form player in world football' now, outscores everyone in Championship

A former Arsenal prodigy is outscoring some of the biggest names in world football at the moment. Chuba Akpom is regarded as the 'most in-form player in the world'.

Akpom has 19 league goals for Middlesbrough. That tally puts him above the likes of Harry Kane (17) and Marcus Rashford (14). In fact, only Erling Haaland has scored more in Europe.

On current form, however, the 27-year-old is on a different level. Akpom has found the net eight times in his last nine games. Haaland managed five in the same period, among them a hat-trick.

He is four strikes clear at the top of the goalscoring chart in the Championship. Akpom racked up these numbers from just 23 starts - leading Michael Carrick's promotion push.

Middlesbrough are currently third with 57 points. Akpom has been directly involved in over one-third of their 56 goals so far and has won with league's player of the month award twice.

Akpom has mostly been deployed behind the striker. Blessed with blistering pace, trickery and strength, he is comfortable anywhere in attack. But what has endeared the 27-year-old to Middlesbrough fans is his humility.

Martin: "How can you not love this guy, so humble. Deserves everything he is getting".

deanBoro: "Fair play to this man, never moaned and got on with it and his form now is unbelievable".

Dat Dude: "Always humble and shouts out the team".

D Mensah: "He was a beast at Arsenal youth level. So happy for him".

Colin Morley: "Top bloke a credit to himself and the team long may it continue utb".

Akpom joined aged six and made his senior debut at 18 in 2013. However, he found his chances limited, making just three more appearances for the club.

After six different loan spells, he finally left the Gunners for the Greek side PAOK in 2018.
