West Ham played a close 1-1 match in the first leg against Gent in Belgium. However, they won by a lot when they played the second leg at their home stadium in London. This victory put them in the semi-finals of a European competition for the second time in two seasons.
Even though the Belgian team scored first in the 26th minute, West Ham was able to recover and went on to dominate the game. It was also a great match for Arsenal target Declan Rice.
The 24-year-old England international was playing in his usual position on the field when one of his teammates, Paqueta, won possession of the ball. Rice then ran with the ball from the middle of the field all the way to the opposition team's box.
Even though one of his teammates, Antonio, was open on the right side of the field, Rice was able to trick Gent defender Joseph Okumu and score a goal by shooting the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
Adrian Durham from talkSPORT praised the captain of the Hammers and shared his thoughts on Twitter by writing: "Wow. Declan Rice is world class. Just wow."
Meanwhile, talkSPORT’s commentator for the game, Alex Crook, tweeted: "Great second half from West Ham. That Rice goal one of those that got me off my feet in commentary."
