Arsenal have secured a second place finish in the Premier League this season, finishing narrowly behind Manchester City. 

The heartbreak of slipping up in our run-up to the title is still fresh but there are plenty of positive things. 

For example, Arsenal have qualified for the Champions League after several years. And finishing second comes with some higher monetary perks as well. 

, the Gunners stand to receive an estimated 'merit' income of £70 million. 

Merit payments comprise income generated from domestic and international broadcast agreements. 

Edu: 'Arsenal didn't bottle Premier League title, no one expected us to fight for it'

"My role makes me need to understand the season as a whole," explained Edu Gaspar in an interview with ESPN Brasil.

"Perhaps in these last five games, we had a drop in performance, which was sustaining us to fight for the title and be fighting for the title was really the consistency of performance. 

"From the moment we had this drop in performance, we have to understand why. This is already well understood by us." 

 director added: "Saying Arsenal ‘bottled’ is a word I wouldn’t use, we created our own frustration. Nobody expected us to fight for the title. 

"You being frustrated about not winning the title is a change of mind. It could even be considered, let’s say, positive, considering times ago. 

"In the past, we celebrated the fourth place, the third. Today, we are frustrated with the second." 

Arsenal faced numerous issues like a lack of squad depth and a series of injuries to key players. They lost steam towards the end of the season, thus leading to a collapse in the title challenge. 

'We are in the right place in terms of planning': Edu provides insight into summer transfer window preparation

 has said that the club are in the 'right place' with regards to planning for summer transfers.

“Again we went into the winter period really well prepared and then we started to make some great decisions and important decisions. So far, it is helping the team to perform well so that’s good, that’s good for everyone.

“Well, I think we are in the right place in terms of planning really.

“Of course the performance of the team and the way we are doing at the moment is special because now I see around us everybody wants to follow us, everybody wants to watch us.

“We are excited about the place we are in at the moment but also we have to understand (it is) still a journey to go, (there are) still things to do.

“Of course we are happy to be in the moment we are now but there are still things in front of us and we have to keep going.

“Every week we train, we play the best way possible and don’t think about anything except the next game.

“How to be better? How can we improve ourselves? How can we be better as a squad and as individuals as well? And then at the end of the season we are going to see where we’re going to be.

“Our intention is to live week by week, game by game, enjoying the games and try to be the best version possible to finish in the best way possible.”

edu is right guys,our team suffered due to a loss of important players without sufficient replacements of same abilities.saliba really hurt our defence, losing mattinelli for a while also didn't help..Jesus,partey before injury was fantastic,but then he came back but just wasn't the same.But when we lost saliba it couldn't have happened qt worst time.when he got injured we started losing games.ALL the games we lost was games without him.either way no matter how disappointing not winning title,who before the season began would believe we would lead the no1 spot on table almost every game but last 6.i believe .so a second place finish who would have thought.the style of our football was beutiful to watch.the players did a fantastic job.unfortunately we just didn't have the depth to keep the momentum going .we need to spend well over the £200m that is being talked about.to erase the problem and to ensure we don't cause fhe same problem from arising for a third season in a row we need atleast £350m spent on new players.has next season the opposition will be even harder.with the sales were making kronke needs to add £300m to that.if arsenal owners are serious qbout wanting success then they need to increase spending.chelsea owners  have the right mindset when buying players.FA and fifa should put a limit on how much a player can be sold for by any team,because clubs are asking stupid prices which is just pushing it higher and higher.no way rice or mudryk are worh £100m or £87m in mudryk.what prices next 2 seasons £300m per player.there should be a cap of saying £60 max but let the wages be set by players.what they will charge a club for there services.Anyway well done Arsenal players ,manager, training staff  and all involved.you had some great football played .let's get our selves ready for our next season to start again.

We need as much money as possible,due to marquee players costing 70-100 million.we need at least 5 players in so we will need every penny imo to challenge next term. unfortunately the wealthiest teams have a head start,im interested in seeing what the kronkies allow because it will to a point dictate how we fair next season.
